Boston Elopement: Jina and Jon

You guys!!! Elopements are so so incredible to photograph. When it’s just us, the couple and the friend/officiant, the sacred and intimate part of what a wedding is really all about is palpable. I love being a part of weddings like this so much. Jina and Jon met us at Boston College, an important place to them. We spent a good hour just photographing them in an easy way then headed over to the Arnold Arboretum to meet their friend Sonal for the ceremony. Under a weeping hemlock tree, they committed to a marriage, with lines from one of my favorite poets: “And stand together, yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.” -Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

Afterwards we headed up Peter’s Hill for the couples last few photos with us AND a real first dance, just them, and iPhone, and the Boston skyline. What a dream eh?

South Yarmouth Cape Cod Wedding: Erica and Matt

A ceremony on the beach, the smell of salt air, two people in love surrounded by their family and friends… and a STIFF chilly breeze: that was the wedding of Erica and Matt. Everyone gathered on the coast of Massachusetts on Cape Cod to witness this longtime couple finally say “I do.” The chilly air aside, it was an absolutely fitting ceremony with laughter and tears. Their sweet dog Chief walked the rings down that aisle no less! Afterwards, we got warmed up with dancing, drinks, and the most important line dance song: Copperhead Road. One of Erica’s bridesmaids is a Bethany and Dan Bride, so we saw this group do this dance once before at her wedding! Gotta love that.

I’m so thankful we were a part of this day. These two people are so so SO very in love and being able to see that turn into a marriage never ever gets old.

Amsebury Massachusetts Engagement Session: Helena and Tim

I mean honestly you guys. Look at these two! They are super cute and super in love and it was a breeze to photograph them. Helena has an amazing laugh and Tim adores her. We started the session in downtown Amesbury, where we just wandered around looking for good light and interesting backdrops. It’s such a cute town and if you are in the area you should totally stop by and check it out. Its also the birthplace of Al Capp, the cartoonist that created Lil’ Abner! Who knew? After some hangout time in town, we headed back to their house for some backyard portraits with their dogÂ Reilly and then it was time for dinner and drinks. Such a great evening all around.

Lili and Gordon’s Anniversary Session

Recently Dan and I photographed the 2016 Catalog for MTI Lifejackets! While we were there, we found a few moments to photograph Lili and Gordon, just as the sun was setting over Plymouth Bay. They are the owners of MTI and we have known them for a few years now, even prior to becoming photographers, back in our outdoor industry jobs. It’s fun to photograph friends and to be able to share our gift with people even if its just in a 10 minute session on a short stretch of beach. Â Photographers: go take photos of your friends!

Christina and Chris’s Fruitlands Museum Wedding

One of the most highly anticipated events of the year!!! Im not kidding either. When I say anticipated I mean they contacted and booked us in August of 2013 and shot their NYC engagement session the next month! I have yet to meet a more organized plan-ahead get things done bride than the new Mrs. Zimbelman. Every single detail was planned out LONG in advance and these two were calm as cucumbers on their wedding day because of it! They were also so so SO fun, with enthusiasm for our work from the very beginning, Christina knew how to make me feel special, which really was above and beyond anything a client ever needs to do. She cheered when I got there and immediately put ME at ease. Now how is THAT for a bride?

It was absolutely without a doubt a perfect day for their wedding. Everything was built around the view at the ceremony and it was the best time of year and weather for it! I mean just LOOK at how beautiful it was. We had 2 separate times in the day to photograph them both before and after the ceremony which was awesome! The reception had so much good food: sliders and popcorn included. When the buses came to take everyone to the after party at the end of the night we could barely believe that it had all happened, just as they planned, beautifully, and FUN!
