Theresa and JJ’s SURPRISE New Hampshire Camp Wedding

You hear about a surprise wedding once in a blue moon. I know that Julie Roberts had one. When Theresa emailed us about their idea for one we were ELATED! All their guests were invited to an engagement party, which was pretty believable since Theresa and JJ live in California and it would make sense for them to have a celebration with lots of folks when they were in town. Bingo! It was a little bit different of a structure for obvious reasons so the photos are in order of events for you.

We started at the cabins where they were getting ready. Their immediate family knew what was happening so they were hanging out with us in the prep area. Once everyone was ready, Theresa put on a white cocktail dress and we headed up to mingle with the engagement party guests at a cocktail hour. A little while into the event, Theresa and JJ said they had an announcement to make that went something like this: “We are so glad you all made it here to celebrate our engagement and we love you all so much. We have something to confess though… that today is not our engagement party but it’s OUR WEDDING DAY!” There were gasps and screams and lots of happy tears. Theresa ran into a nearby cabin to put on her wedding dress and everyone else was in charge of setting benches in place for the ceremony, taking place just 10 min after the announcement!

From that moment on, it was a wedding day for all the guests, with all the fun that goes along with it! A gorgeous reception planned by All the Fuss Events complete with tiny horse details to honor JJ’s late sister. We were SO happy to be a part of this one and it was all we dreamed it would be… and better. Enjoy this one you guys!

Andrea and Mikes New Hampshire Lake Wedding

I feel like I should reiterate again how we met these two because I think it’s the coolest story. One wintery night in Boston, I went to a book signing for Young House Love. Andrea was in front of me in line Â and it’s just that simple. Over the next two years we kept in touch via social media and her blog! When Mike proposed she emailed me right away andÂ we were in! Her sweet bridesmaids were there with her at the book signing too so it was radical to have everyone together again!

Mike and Andrea did something really unique an special for their first look. In the middle of the lake there is a tiny island. They both took boats out to it with Dan and I. Once we were all in place, they had a first look to always remember. First Andrea walked up and hugged him close, then stepped back and Mike turned around to see his bride. It was so so romantic and it was better than anything we could have came up for them for what and where to do it. We loved it!

Once it came time for the ceremony, they again took boats over to the ceremony site. It was a first for me and I was eating it up! What more could you ask for? Boats and a wedding! The ceremony took place right at the lakeshore and then we all walked up to the top of the hill for a tented reception with details to take note of. It was SO good looking under the tent with incredible flowers and a cake to knock your socks off. We loved being a part of this day and we can’t wait to see what the future has for these two.

Andrea and Mikes New Hampshire Lake Rehearsal Dinner

Andrea and Mike asked us to attend their wedding rehearsal in addition to theirÂ rehearsal dinner. This was a first for us, which is always exciting! We loved getting a chance to get to know the location, the light, and time frame for the wedding ceremony. Better still was the opportunity to get to know some of their guests and family before the day of. Since we had so much time with them, we were able to learn who everyone was and many of their personal connections to Mike and Andrea, which made the following day more meaningful to us, being able to understand who and why they were there.

The day started at the camp they were having the ceremony and reception. Later we headed over to the Fireside Inn for a fun dinner with their far out of town guests. Right before we left Andrea ran after us with a welcome goodie bag that she made for us. It was the perfect way to start the wedding weekend.Â

Sarah and JT’s New Hampshire Engagement Session

We met up at an office park off a New Hampshire highway. Yes… you read that right. Sarah knew of an office park that had oddly good looking surroundings, like forests, lakes, fields, and gorgeous fall colors. Thanks to her outside of the box creative eye, we got to make magic in an office park for the first half of thier engagement session, and we LOVED it. The fun lies in things like that for us! Sarah is such a natural beauty and that is enhanced by being loved and being in love with her sweet man, JT. They were a breeze to photograph. We basically laughed for 2 hours. After the office park, we headed to the NH coast and enjoyed the beauty of New England. What an awesome place to live. We are huge fans. This is guaranteed to be a fun wedding so do what you need to do to get an invite!

Andrea and Mike’s New Hampshire Engagement Session

Okâ€¦ this is might just be the craziest way of connecting with a couple we have experienced to date. Andrea and I met in line at a book signing. That’s rightâ€¦. a book signing. It was a COLD night in Boston in early December last year. Young House Love, a blog that we are both huge fans of, was in town for their first ever book, and of course we were both there to meet them and have our books autographed by the great John and Sherry! If you want a new blog to obsess over and dream big with for your own home, please go there immediately following this post, (you have to meet Andrea and Mike first). Andrea and I were in line together and it was a looooooong line, so we struck up a conversation. As all first intro’s go, we both talked about what we do. I of course told her about our wedding photography and she told me about her own DIY blog, My Kinda Perfect. Since that evening, we have kept in touch and she even featured Welcome Them Home on her blog once. When her long-time boyfriend Mike proposed to herâ€¦. she emailed us like lightening! I firmly believe they should send a Save the Date to John, Sherry, Clara, Burgerâ€¦ and the bun. Yeah Andrea?

We met them in NH for a tiny hike up to a gorgeous overlook, taking in ALL that gorgeous foliage that is happening right now in the New England. It was a super laid back session, with lots of snuggling and laughing. We had a blast with them and know that their wedding will be much the same.

PS: Andrea’s eyes might just knock your socks off. Fair warning.
