Two Lights State Park Engagement Session: Marisa and Heath

Remember the fall and all the lovely colors? Let’s go back in our minds shall we? Fall is a time where we end up doing so so many of our engagement sessions. These two were so dang fun to work with because they were DOWN for some wacky ideas. Because of those chill vibes, I was personally able to create at least three images that scratched my wacky photographer itch, which is huge. Sometimes I only get 5-10 a year! See if you can spot them.

We, of course, got some classics with them because we love those just as much, but I will be forever grateful to them for being so open with my creative-ness… and to Dan for helping me work it out when my brain felt like it was cracking.

Yay!!!

Portland Maine Elopement: Michelle and Damien

Three words that I would use to describe Damien and Michelle’s tiny Portland Maine City Hall Wedding are sweet, simple, and elegant. It was such a gorgeous day here in Portland, with just a kiss of brisk fall air and pretty yellow leaves shining in the trees. Damien and Michelle had a little first look just outside the Danforth Inn and then they called an uber to take us to City Hall. Nice and easy.

They said their vows and then they were married. Just like that.

We all hopped into our car and the four of us did portraits around town. They had a date on the Narrow Gauge railroad so that was an important spot to hit. Afterward, we also went over to Mackworth island for some nature photos. It was an all-round great wedding in our opinion.

House Island Maine Wedding: Jess and Rhodri

One of the most special venues here in Portland is on House Island. Its a private island in the Casco Bay and involves a lot of planning to make happen, (hence why having a superstar planner is a must). Jess and Rhodri live in London and since many of the guests would be from across the ocean, they wanted to throw a spectacular wedding for them all… but most importantly, themselves.

I adored both of their personalities, a mix of smart dry wit and kind sensitivity. They put me at ease the moment I met them at a coffee shop, long before their wedding day. Nothing changed between then and the wedding day. Genuine good people through and through. The wedding was romantic and silly, just like them. It was a rainy morning but right before the ceremony, it stopped! We have a beautiful Maine day for the rest of the event: 👌

Peaks Island Maine Wedding: Lauren and Steve

We had coffee with Lauren and Steve in our neighborhood not long before their wedding. I felt immediately connected to them. Their laughter, comfort, and sarcasm was all I needed to know that we were going to be able to photograph their wedding in a super authentic way. When they let us in, even at the little coffee shop, it was a really good sign for the wedding day to come.

Fast forward to their wedding day and all those qualities were there, and then we got to add all the joy and support from their friends and family to the mix. It was just what we love.

Some of my favorite memories from the day are as follows:

+When Lauren’s veil flew off as soon as I took the photo of her walking down the aisle.
+That they drove off right after the ceremony for a few private moments by the ocean.
+THE INCREDIBLE SUNSET that never fails to distract everyone from everything on Peaks Island.
+The beers they brought in from their hometown.
+Lauren’s outfit change at the end of the night.

Portland Maine Wedding: Jenna and Chris

Jenna and Chris could NOT have been more chill and easy-going on their wedding day. Honestly though. Jenna did her own makeup, warmed up a bottle for her baby boy, and then strolled across the street to meet her future husband, waiting for her at the end of the aisle. The group of friends and family invited where all so kind and fun and the vibe for the day was just a resounding “YAY” from everyone. One of my favorite parts of the day was actually the father-daughter dance. Typically this part of the day is really hard for me since I have my own daddy issues that crop up when I watch, but they made their dance so FUN! The song was “Sweet Child of Mine” by Guns and Roses. so… yeah. It was fun!

We love being a part of little weddings that are focused on one thing, getting married and having fun while you do that! Jenna and Chris were a perfect embodiment of that sentiment. <3
