Liz and Chip’s Orland Maine Wedding

Liz and Chip held their wedding at Liz’s Grandparents lake house in Orland Maine, coincidentally right across the lake from where Kate and Emily had their wedding this past July. It is an amazing property complete with the most epic blueberry field, just right for taking photos of this lovely couple and their friends. I could not, and have not, gotten over Liz’s incredibly styling. Please take note of her dress and jewelry. It was timeless, classy, and SO MUCH FUN to photograph. Her mother is a photographer so Liz was completely comfortable in front of the camera too, which made things pretty simple when it came to portraits. We were definitely not complaining.

The ceremony was held in a 200 year old church and the guests were shuttled from the ceremony to the reception via yellow school busses. They had the cocktail hour in the backyard with their family pets roaming around and mingling with the guests. After the cocktail hour everyone moved further into the woods to a tented reception where the champagne and dancing both flowed without end. It was a blast.

Vee and Mike’s Willowdale Estate Wedding

Vee and Mike’s Willowdale Estate wedding is finally here to show off on the blog! It was SUCH a classic and classy wedding, and if you don’t already know, we LOVE Tuxedos so this was right up our alley! Everyone got ready at the hotel and then we did a little non-first look right in the hallway since Vee just couldn’t help from at least holding his hand before the ceremony. The guys headed to a local bar and imbibed in some HUGE shots thanks to being friends with the bar tender. The ladies rode the trolley to the ceremony and waited in the wings for everything to start. There ceremony was much like other ceremonies except for one big unplanned moment when the FIRE ALARM WENT OFF! The priest, although a little confused, continued with the ceremony, although I do think he skipped over all the non-necessary talking. Right before they kissed, the alarm stopped, and we all went outside to find the fire department, all ready to go just in case. It was truly unforgettable. You gotta love a couple who can take that in stride. We obviously took some images with the firetruck because how can you not? Amiright? The “you guys are just too hot,” jokes came shortly afterwards.

We all headed to the gorgeous reception and Dan and I hung out with the bridal party on the front lawn, trying to keep up with the groomsmen and their antics. After a rowdy photo session, we took Vee and Mike for a few of just them, Vee laughing practically the entire time. Then it was dinner and dancing time! Everyone was so fun to be around and we didn’t want to leave, which I can only guess is how everyone there felt that night. We are so happy these two are married and we were there to photograph it.

Catherine and Rafael’s Quincy MA Wedding

When I think about Catherine and Rafael’s wedding, the words “fun, red lipstick, true love, preciousness, and dance party” all come to mind. That should be enough to get you excited for the photos I would think!

The love that Catherine and Rafael have for one another is that kind that you can feel. It makes you want to hug your own spouse closer and cherish your own relationship. It is a testament and I loved witness it become marriage. I got to be with Catherine and her father as they waited to walk down the aisle, and it’s moments like that I feel like my privilege on a wedding day is precious. It was so touching as the prayed together moments before she was to become a wife. When Rafael saw her for the first time, the room was electric. It was truly one of wedding days filled with magic. With a wedding party of 20, we had quite the blast hanging out with all of them on the beach and they were just plain fun! After prayers and toasts, tears of joy and formal dances, the party continued into the night… the dance floor literally bouncing up and down from the jumping. When Katy Perry came on everybody screamed and the dance party was on. These are my kind of people!

Mara and Will’s North Haven Island, Maine Wedding

Sometimes there are those weddings where you know from the moment you take the first image, its going to be epic. Mara and Will’s was one of them. On his own, Will demanded that everyone got ready outside on the porch for the best light. So he and his best man donned their tuxedos out in the open. Mara on the other hand was having her hair and makeup done at the Nebo Lodge, with her mother and maid of honor . When I saw the dress, I nearly fainted with excitement. It was calm and quiet and relaxed and honestly what every bride pictures her getting ready to be like. Her mom even cried a little bit and kept telling her how beautiful she looked and how much she loved her. It was so so sweet.

Right before the ceremony, Mara found out that her sister, who lives on Nantucket, flew in that morning… after having a baby 4 days prior.

The ceremony was held at a tiny catholic church on the island. One of their friends played quite possible the most amazing violin performance I have ever heard in my life, or ever will. Later I found out that this friend of theirs is Ryu Goto. Yeah. They kissed and walked back down the aisle to the front steps of the newly painted church and basked in the awesomeness that was their newly married life!

We took a few portraits at his parents property and then we all headed to the reception overlooking the Penobscot Bay. As the speeches of love and friendship continued from the evening before, we learned more and more how special these two are.  They danced their first dance to another Ryu Goto song, and then they received a very unique gift. It was the only gift on the gift table, as per the couples request… but it was an unforgettable one. Two shot glasses were epoxyed to a canoe paddle, side by side. In order to sign this “guestbook of sorts” you had to take a shot of tequila from the shot paddle. It. was. a. huge. hit. AND since we sign every guestbook at every wedding, this was the first time ever we drank at a wedding. First and last… and I promised we were officially done working when we did so.

It’s weddings like this that I have to pinch myself when I realized that this is our job. Thanks Mara and Will and ALL your family and friends for making an unforgettable weekend for us.

Kathleen and Jacob’s Hanover Inn at Darthmouth College Wedding on New Year’s Eve!

Two days before Kathleen and Jacob‘s wedding, it snowed over 6 inches. We were elated since we had been talking about how perfect that would be since the day we signed on for the wedding. The whole drive up, we marveled at the softbox sky, and the manageable temperatures. It was as perfect a winter day as you could order up. When we arrived it was game on until we left that evening. The girls were so excited they were bubbling over the entire pre-ceremony time. When I walked in the room they were laughing and all talking at the same time, and that never stopped. Not only was standing in the window for photos their crazy idea, but they didn’t even flinch when I asked them to stand in the snow BAREFOOT for a few photos. That is dedication… the kind of bridesmaids that every bride wants. Right before the ceremony, I asked Jacob what kind of kiss he was planning on giving Kathleen for their first kiss as a married couple. He smiled and told me he hadn’t even thought about that yet! Well he delivered when he planted a huge on one on her after he was blessed to do so. At the reception, the entire bridal party surprised them with a song and the father daughter dance was adorable, set to Bobby Darin’s “You must have been a beautiful baby.” Unforgettable. The dance party was epic, the DJ confiding in me that these people didn’t know what was about to hit them once he got into it. He planned all super fast songs for the end and everyone was sweating from the amazingness of the reception dance party. What a GREAT way to spend New Years eve don’t you think?
